We are entirely dedicated to promoting and developing sporting activities for the disabled and currently host a widely varied range, running the full twelve months of the year.
Free - Accessible Hands-on Sailing Starts end March 2011 Video and our new Appeal
We are now launching a joint appeal to recruit more volunteers to continue and enhance the sailing operation plus raise funds to replace the ageing Knoticat.
Each year more than 500 disabled people and their carers sail benefit from sailing trips on Knoticat. The trips are free and provide an invigorating day out for people with all levels of disability.
The Knoticat team now needs to expand to meet the increasing needs of the operation. The needs lie in administration, public relations, fund raising, IT, website support, boat maintenance, sponsorship and record keeping. There is also a particular need for experienced crew and trainees.
Project `Seahorse` (Safe Easily Accessible Hands-On Real Sailing Experience) has also been launched to raise funds to purchase a replacement for Knoticat. Sponsors, fundraisers and volunteers are urgently needed to assist in this project.
Several times a year we run very popular social events such as Seasonal Disco’s. These are occasions when old friends and family can meet in convivial surroundings and where newcomers are always made to feel very welcome. There is always plenty to eat and drink, with good music to listen or dance to. The ‘Events’ tab above gives details of forthcoming and proposed events.

Sports Forum for the Disabled will be amongst the first charities in the country to use its own, unique personalised text code, ABAB44, to raise funds using JustTextGiving by Vodafone. This is a brand new, free service for charities that has no set up or fundraising costs for charities, no network charges for people making donations and every penny donated goes to charity. Gift Aid can also be added to donations. Donations of up to £10 by texting ABAB44 and either 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 to 70070 to make their donation. The text message is free and all of the donation will be passed to Sports Forum for the Disabled
